Suggested Volunteer Service Projects

Food:

  1. Collect individual portion pop-up & pull-top cans of meats, fruit, desserts etc.
  2. Collect cans of Beef-a-Roni, spam, Vienna Sausages, etc. for clients in motels.
  3. Make "Ziti for the Needy" or other casseroles like - mac n' cheese, franks and beans, sliced ham is fine or whatever your specialty. SHIP requests that we supply (4) 1/2 tray sizes of the same meal.  See website for additional information)

Hygene:

Make "Hospitality Packs" individual small hygiene bags (3-day supply) with a Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, bar soap, deodorant, etc.

Decorations:

Make placemats, table decorations, and seasonal decorations:  SHIP’s Holiday Meals – Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.

Clothing:

Collect winter gloves, new socks & underwear (adult men's & women's sizes) OR run adult coat drive to collect 50 to 100 coats.  (used winter coats are much needed during the fall & winter months, especially adult men's sizes.)

Participate in SHIP’s Holiday Meals Program:

Help serve meals & other dining room duties (held on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day)

SHIP’s Client Gift Distribution:

Run a Holiday Toy Drive (deadline around December 15th)

Help with Client’s Christmas Gift Distribution:

event in December – will be adult with children only distribution event,  with face painting, games, toys, treats (make cookies, cupcakes,  other Christmas treats), etc. for approx. 200 people.

SHIP’s Mobile Soup Kitchen Disaster Unit:

Help with mobile soup kitchen (must be 16 ½ years old.)  (see web site for more information)

Tick Toc’s Grove:

Help with summer picnics on every Tuesday and Thursday during June, July and August. (see web site for more in formation)

SHIP’s Brown Bag Lunches:

Make sandwiches (60) in brown bags, labeled appropriately: Ham & Cheese (HC), Bologna (B) Tuna (TF) Turkey (TF) American Cheese (C) Peanut Butter & Jelly (PJ). Also include: one piece of fruit, juice box, snack (chips, cookies etc.) and napkin per bag.  Plain, NO MUSTARD or DRESSING.
